This is my first blog post so I’m trying to think up something to write. Haha, so there’s this one faithful day, after watching the Asian Food Channel on how to make your very own home-made ice-cream, so I thought why not? This is how I began my journey of making my very first ice-cream. Well, at first I thought it would be easy, just add a couple of eggs, a few cups of milk, cream, sugar, and then heat the mixture in a saucepan, after that pour it into a big mixing bowl which is immersed into an ice-bath. Stir it constantly for an hour or so~ and voila here you have it-ice-cream! I did everything according to the recipe-didn’t even miss out any single detail!!! After heating the ingredients in a saucepan, I began stirring it while immersing the bowl in an ice-bath. But after stirring it for about 20 minutes or so, the mixture still appeared watery and it’s no way near ice-cream!!!! I still didn’t want to give up, so I kept stirring and stirring- I even put it into the freezer and stir it, but to no avail, it’s still not ice-cream!!! I eventually realised that it’s not going to work, so I thought of changing my plans-Plan B~ making muffins. Since the ingredients are more or less the same, I just add some flour then, I thought. In the end, it turned out to be a disaster. It’s still something edible but it didn’t look or taste like muffin! Worse of all, no one wants to eat it, including me (haha..) It’s tasteless and didn’t taste like neither muffin nor cake nor puding (somewhere between the line…) I guess my grandmother must be really grateful that I didn’t ruin her entire kitchen! Anyhow, this is only my first time making ice-cream which turned out to be~ well, not as well as I thought. Still, it was fun and I will continue on with my firing passion with food… Next up, creme brulee!!!
